Mt. Crested Butte, Colorado
Sitting at 9,375 feet above sea level, the town of Mt. Crested Butte is home to just over 700 year-round and part-time residents. The Town is nestled among the Elk Mountains, and the East River to the northeast and Gothic Mountain and Paradise Divide to the north. Located about two miles north of the town of Crested Butte, Mt. Crested Butte is comprised of homes, condos and townhomes along with a ski village nestled at the base of Crested Butte Mountain. Mt. Crested Butte derives its name from the craggy faced butte that rises abruptly from the valley floor of the East River to over 12,000 feet, and is capped by a sharp peak that crests its top. Founded in 1974, the original town plat included 11 subdivisions, known as Chalet Village Additions. These generally surround the base of the ski area. Other subdivisions include Pitchfork, Gold Link, Elk Run, Overlook, Sunlight Ridge, Timberland and Prospect. Town of Mt.
